In the 2007-2009 period Cementir Holding is investing € 200m to increase production capacity by around 13%.
100% of new capacity is concentrated in emerging countries (Turkey, Egypt and China), where we expect most of demand growth to occur.
Two expansion projects are brownfield (Turkey and Egypt) and one is greenfield (China), for a total capacity increase of around 2m tons per annum.

Turkey

Edirne (Trakya) plant

600,000 tons grey cement capacity increase

  • Grey cement capacity at the Edirne (Trakya) plant has been increased from 0.7m to 1.3m tons per annum, to cater to the Istanbul area
  • The kiln is operational since April 2008 and is one of the most efficient cement plants in Turkey
  • Exports from Trakya can reach Greece and Bulgaria

Egypt

Sinai White plant

700,000 tons white cement capacity increase

  • White cement capacity at Sinai White has been increased from 0.41 to 1.1m tons per annum
  • Clinker production has already started
  • Sinai White is one of the most efficient plants within the Cementir Holding group

China

Anqing plant

600,000 tons white cement greenfield

  • The new plant, located near the Group's existing facility in Anqing, with annual cement capacity of 0.6m tons, is one of the largest white cement plants in China
  • Expected production start: August 2009
